FIRST LINE OF DEFENCE
First line of defence in non-specific and innate. It acts to prevent foreign matter such as virus, bacteria and pathogens from entering the body. It takes place on the at the surface of a body, and the most common type of first line defence is intact skin which is a mechanical protection. Types of chemical protection include natural secretions, including tears and saliva, and natural flora where the area is non-pathogenic, including good bacteria.
